Nail Fungus Treatment

Nail fungus is a disease that usually affects toe nails making them thick and giving them a brownish colour. A year later, the Oleozon group had only a 2.8% relapse rate, while 44.4% of the control group had relapsed.6 Rub a small amount of this oil onto your toes twice daily to treat toenail fungus. Fungal nail infections develop when your feet are constantly warm and damp.

The Mayo Clinic warns the treatments may take up to four months to work, as may others such as topical nail polish nail fungus treatment with medications. Do not use tea tree oil if you are sensitive to or allergic to turpentine. There are two ways to do it: Permanently, so it never grows back (and then you won't have a toenail anymore), or you can let it grow back in. Sometimes it grows back in as a healthy nail, and sometimes it grows back with the fungus.

This FDA-approved medication is a thick ointment that gets rid of fungus, soothes pain, and helps restore the skin and nail. Then apply tea tree oil directly on the nail. When tea tree oil is applied with olive oil to the affected nail area on a regular basis it will help cure the infection.

Severe cases of toenail fungus may cause pain and irreversible toenail damage. Whether you decide to have treatment or not, you should still practise good foot hygiene (see below) to stop the infection getting worse or spreading to others. Toenail fungus can be caused by leaving your feet in warm, moist environments for too long, or by tiny cuts under the nail that breed dermatophytes and yeast called Candida.

Apply the coconut oil to the nails as well as the surrounding skin. Medicated nail polish can be painted on daily to help kill the fungal infection. That's why many turn to home treatments that contain natural and synthetic anti-fungal ingredients that fight the infection.
